Annie Fortin learned early in her career that genuine interpersonal relationships can lead to a stimulating and successful career. The lesson began when she was working at the major Quebec fitness center Nautilus Plus. Annie was just beginning her career, but her schedule was already packed with work and university studies in Human Resources Management. When she graduated, Annie wanted to do an internship to ease her transition into the industry. She mentioned her internship goal to a client she had signed up with Nautilus Plus, who was in fact a corporate recruiter, working closely with Recruit Action. The client knew that Recruit Action was expanding its team, so he introduced Annie to Domenic Calcara.
Annie and Domenic met at a dinner party, and she was impressed by his personable nature and human approach to recruitment. However, Annie says, “I wasn’t sure I wanted to join a recruitment firm, as I was afraid of being too closely associated with the placement sector”. Recognizing her talents and understanding her concerns, Domenic offered her a tailor-made position that reconciled her desire to develop as a generalist with Recruit Action’s needs. I appreciated his open-mindedness, sincere cooperation and simplicity. So I completed my internship with the team and stayed with them for about a year. Recruit Action became the company where Annie officially began her second career in what she calls her “true field of employment”.
After Recruit Action, Annie worked as a human resources consultant. First at municipal level, for the City of Mascouche, then in professional services with the renowned Montreal law firm; Langlois. Each new position has enabled Annie to deepen her skills and prepare for her current role with CAA-Quebec. As a human resources business partner, she helps internal customers meet a variety of human resources needs, such as attracting, mobilizing, developing and retaining talent, in order to achieve corporate objectives.
Although she left Recruit Action several years ago, Annie has retained a lasting relationship with the company. “I’ve always kept in touch with them, firstly because they’re lovely, and secondly because I call on the team to help me with various recruitment mandates,” says Annie. She feels that Recruit Action will always be a valuable contact, a quality partner and a collaborator she can count on. When asked to describe Recruit Action in three words, Annie answers: simplicity, friendliness and efficiency. She adds: “They take charge, understand the market and tell the real story. The team is always a pleasure to work with, and we’re confident we’ll get results when we hire Recruit Action to help us.
Annie believes that the personalized approach sets the company apart from other recruitment firms. “They really care about their customers, want to get to know them well and understand the mandates,” says Annie. She believes that Recruit Action places a premium on building genuine, long-term relationships at every stage of the recruitment process. Annie says: “When we work with them, we get the feeling that we’re working with people who appreciate each other, which makes working together fun and easy! When you focus on developing meaningful relationships, people understand that you value individuals. And when they feel appreciated, they come forward and are willing to help you. It’s these shared values and mutually beneficial relationships that make Annie Fortin and Recruit Action true partners.
